International SOS China 2018 Annual Conference Successfully Shares Best Practices for Safeguarding Global Workforce in Today’s VUCA1 World

International SOS showcased best practices for safeguarding a global workforce and sustainability reporting practices, providing an effective way for organisations to implement programmes that can help them to meet some of their Sustainability Development Goals (SDGs)2.

“A healthy and secure global workforce is critical for an organisation’s business resilience, forming the bedrock for long-term growth and development,” said Joel Gosset, Managing Director at International SOS China. “Identifying improvements and implementing best practices to achieve SDGs focusing on good health and wellbeing, as well as decent work and economic growth are essential. Regular reporting mechanisms also help to ensure achievements are on track and can help to identify return on investment.”
The conference attracted hundreds of senior business leaders who want to gain practical and insightful expertise in daily medical and security risk management that will help them to achieve some of the United Nation’s SDGs. Experts advised on health and security strategic planning and innovative interventions. Among those in attendance were International SOS’ suite of senior medical and security experts, government representatives, well-known scholars, and distinguished guests from leading organisations across industry sectors, including IT, banking, Oil & Gas, infrastructure and manufacturing, among others.

Business leaders who grasp that health and wellness can improve business continuity, productivity, retention, and morale will enhance their company’s value. They’re better able to integrate sustainable practices with a company’s overall strategic objectives, and frame it as part of a wider commitment to corporate social responsibility” Gosset added.
International SOS Foundation and Sancroft have jointly released a guide3 on how to achieve sustainability and the company has helped its clients implement programmes that meet targets, including United Nations SDG 3 and SDG 8. International SOS has also introduced reporting frameworks as a useful tool for standardising disclosure and anticipating trends that need to be reported because reporting can play an important role in helping to substantially improve practices.
With the theme of ‘Enhancing Business Sustainability and Resilience: Meeting New Challenges in Medical and Security Risks Today’, this year’s conference marks the 5th year International SOS China has hosted the annual conference. The conference provides medical and security practitioners of leading Chinese companies, and global multinational organisations, with the opportunity to exchange the latest development and best practices in business sustainability and resilience.
